Word/Phrase | Meaning |
astral projection | the theory that while one sleeps one has another body -- an astral body -- that can travel through time and space. |
carbon dated | Really old. |
drama queen | Someone who goes in for long, melodramatic explanations, like Giles. |
elsewhere to be | Other engangement (far away). Usage: "Don't you have an elsewhere to be?" |
Epstein-Barr | An illness that nobody cool has anymore acording to Cordelia. |
Evita-like | Self-centered. |
Excorsist twist | Full turn of the head |
feeding | Drinking blood; a vampire's only means for survival. |
fess up | Own up. |
five by five | Fine, OK |
fray-adjacent | Outside of the fighting. |
Free, A | A free period. |
game face | The face a vampire has when the feed is upon them. |
Gandhi | Innocent, peacefull person. |
gathering | Brie, mellow song styling |
Gene and Roger | Unsolicited criticism |
get gone | Disappear, go. |
happy | Usage: "It gives me a happy" (ie It makes me happy.). |
happy meal on legs | What Spike thinks people are. |
harvest | a night once in a century when a Master Vampire can draw power from one of his minions while it feeds. |
host | The person off whom the vampire feeds. |
jump off that bridge when I come to it | Buffyism for "cross that bridge when I come to it". Usage: "I'll just jump off that bridge when I come to it." |
kissage | Kissing. |
master | The most powerful of vampires, capable of destroying the earth. |
minion | a follower of the Master Vampire |
missage | Feeling of regret at the absence or loss of somebody/something. |
Miss Edith | Drusilla's doll |
MOO | Mothers Opposed to the Occult. |
Mr. Caution Man | Giles. |
Mr. Gordo | Buffys Stuffed Pig |
Mr. Pointy | Kendra's lucky stake. |
non-budger | Person who doesn't budge. |
pre-posy | Early stage of a relationship before flowers. |
Razorbacks | The Sunnydale High football team. |
Ripper | Giles' nickname from when he was in England. |
Romany | Gypsy |
round robin | When everybody call's everybody else's parent's and tell them they are sleeping over at everyone's house. |
Sabrina | Witch |
salty goodness | Male treat to the eyes. |
Scooby Gang | Buffy and the Slayerettes. |
scully | To give a scientific explenation to a paranormal phenomenon. Homage to Dana Scully in "The X-files". |
Sesame Street | Something so simple a child could understand it. |
shindig | Dip, less mellow song styling, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage. |
sitch | Situation |
slayage | Slaying |
Slayerettes | Buffy's friends who help her with her slaying. |
Slayer kryptonite | Xander's explenation for Buffy's loss of powers in "Helpless". Kryptonite is the only thing that can harm Superman. |
Stealth Guy | Angel, refering to his ability to appear and disappear without a sound. |
Sunset Club | Where the vampire wannabees met. |
techno pagan | Modern equivalent to a watcher on the Internet. What Jenny said she was. |
Three | A gang of very proud and strong warrior vampires. |
übersuck | Major bummer. |
vague up | Make more unclear (sarcastic). Usage: "Can you vague that up for me?" |
Vamp | Vampire |
vamp out | The act of putting on the game face. |
Vampire Meals-On-Wheels | A medical transport delivering the monthly supply of blood to the hospital. |
Vampyr | One of Giles' books which he shows to Buffy when she comes to Sunnydale. |
slayer | a girl born once every generation with the strength and skill to hunt vampires, find them where they gather and stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers. |
vampire | Demonic creatures who live off the blood of humans; a vampire appears to be a normal person until the feed is upon them -- only then do they reveal their true demonic visage. |
vessel | a minion, bearing a three-pointed symbol, which can give the Master Vampire power by feeding. |
wacky | Crazy stuff. Usage: "Love makes you do the wacky." Crazy. Usage: "I'm just wacky that way." |
watcher | person who finds the Slayer and leads her on her path; it is his destiny to guide the Slayer. |
Watcherless and fancy-free | Faithism for footloose and fancy-free, meaning that a Slayer is free to do what she wants while her Watcher is away. |
Watchers' Council | An organition of Watchers. |
Watcher's retreat | Yearly gathering of Watchers in the Cotswalds. It's a great honor to be invited. |
werewolf | A werewolf is a potent extreme representation of our inborn animalistic traits that emerges for three full consecutive nights: the full moon and the two nights surrounding it. It acts on pure instinct. No conscience, predatory and aggressive |
wig (out) | Freak out. |
wiggins | The creeps. |
yester | Over, history. |
Yoda | Mentor. Homage to the Star Wars charater Yoda. |
Zeppo | The fifth wheel. Zeppo was the fifth Marx brother. |
zombie | Dead people who have been supernaturally reanimated, not to be confused with vampires. The mask that holds the power of the zombie demon Ovu Mobani can turn dead people into zombies. |
